Bishy Road – 150 years of our local shopping street

Bishy Road book coverSome of our shops have accommodated the same trades for over a hundred years, while some reflect shopping trends as they changed over the twentieth century. We do know that people have very fond memories of the street.

On Friday 18th January, for this illustrated talk, Susan Major will show how our street has changed over 150 years.

You can become a member of the History Group for a small sum of £5 for the year, which gives you reduced entry (£1) to talks. Non members are also very welcome, at a cost of £3 on the door.

All meetings take place at Clements Hall in Nunthorpe Road, York, starting at 7.30pm (the summer historical walk usually starts from the Hall).

There are a small number of free parking spaces near Clements Hall. It is also easily accessible from the station (10 minutes on foot) and by buses stopping in Blossom Street (walk along Moss Street opposite the Reel Cinema).
