Our community history

There’s a lot of history behind the development of our area of York - Scarcroft, Clementhorpe and South Bank. Importantly photographs and memories play a large part in capturing how we used to live, work, shop and play. Come along to our next event and hear about

• Butchers and fish merchants, Chinese laundries and dance bands: the history of Bishopthorpe Road shops

• The First World War home front in our area
