Clementhorpe, South Bank and Scarcroft in WW1: a guided walk

Friday 19 July 2019

This circular guided walk, based on research by Clements Hall Local History Group, begins at 7pm at Clements Hall, Nunthorpe Road, and lasts approximately two hours. Focusing on familiar buildings and landscape - churches, schools, houses and allotments - it explores some of the many ways the local community adapted to the demands of World War 1, and was changed forever by it.

Refugees, pacifists and raw recruits rub shoulders with aristocrats, jingoists and women doing men’s work, in these true stories of a world turned upside down.

Booking is essential, as places are limited. Contact Clements Hall on 01904 466086 or email enquiries@clementshall.org.uk.

Cost £1 for members, £3 non-members.
